Description

The time lapse movie shows several sequences of mitosis in the liquid endosperm of the African Blood Lily Haemanthus katherinae imaged by polarizing microscopy. Birefringent microtubules are attached to each pair of chromatids at metaphase and, in the last sequences that include early telophase, birefringence is confimed to the forming phragmoplast (cell plate).
