Description

The image shows a nucleus extracted from the brain of an old (29 month) rat and immuno-stained for tubulin (green)and nuclear pore complexes (red). DNA was stained with DAPI (blue). The intra-nuclear accumulation of tubulin and other cytoplasmic proteins is a property of aging cells apparently caused by deterioration of nuclear pore complexes.
